This workshop is designed to teach Photoshop from the ground up to hobbyists and amateur or professional
photographers with little or no previous experience with digital imaging. The workshop provides students
knowledge of the fundamentals of digital imaging and image manipulation with Photoshop with a strong emphasis on
workflow.
The instruction approaches Photoshop from a photographer's point of view, so students should be versed in photographic
terms and ideas. It is not meant to be a workshop in Photoshop for graphic designers or those interested in "special effects".
Each three-hour session will be broken into lecture/demo and hands on time for participants. Students
should bring their own digital files (300 dpi/ppi or higher) and/or color or b&w film (demo files can
be provided if necessary, but students are highly encouraged to work on their own images). CDs will
be provided for archiving scanned files and final images.
Topics covered include:
- Resolution
- Photoshop tools
- Photo retouching
- Color balancing
- Conversion to grayscale
- and much, much more
This is a hands-on workshop limited to four students per session. Classes begin with instructor demonstrations followed
by lab sessions during which students can apply the lesson to their own work.
Prerequisites: basic computer literacy is essential and knowledge of general
photographic concepts and terminology is strongly recommended
What to bring: digital files (300 ppi or more) on CD or Zip and/or b&w or color film
